without all these virtually obsolete gold mines chewing up vast amounts of energy, there would be much greater availability to the rest of the country - In the current climate, do you really think Escom and the SA government would be investing large sums of cash in to their power grid if they thought they could get away with it.
I'd say continued expenditure on power infrastructure would help us in the longer term, wouldn't you ?
