There are some exemptions to the ASX Ban. You can see from yesterdays trade that there was some short selling - however less than 2% of trading was due to shorts:

Its not shorting going on here. Its a fund selling out. Panic selling. Manipulation due to the fear in the market. Whatever other reason people sell.
GMG is a long way from being a CNP. That is not to say the situation could deteriorate.
