The economy is on the edge of a boom. Pays going up, taxes going down. $600 electricity credit. No electricity bill for 8 months. Mine workers getting paid 5 percent retention bonuses. Mine workers getting up to $3000 in spotters bonus. The job market is so competitive.
State tourism going bonkers. Everyone holidaying in WA. Cashed up pensioners caravaning around the state. Tourism industry has never been busier.
Record mining royalties. Record rental occupancy rates. Record low credit card Dept. Record amount of new homes being built. 6month wait on a LandCruiser. Retail going strong. Tradies never been busier. Low interest rate. Record highs in rental prices. House prices on the rise. And a surplus. Restaurants in Fremantle have been advertising for 4 month's. Not one suitable job application.
It seems the only problem here is getting people off jobseeker and into good paying jobs. Even the unemployed have never been better off.
WA is in a unique situation compared to other states. One of few international flight destinations. Major port. And thousands crossing the borders every week to work on the mines. Unrestricted border control would devastate the mining industry and the Australian economy. See what happens to suicide rates if this happens.
Keep the virus out, old lives matter, lock in the dollars.

Very nice.
I 'm partial to stories about magic puddings.
Just one thing that occurs to me:
If legislated isolationism is the way to the sort of prosperity you describe, one wonders why governments didn't pursue that sort of policy a long time ago.
PS. Just hope and pray that those pesky Brazilians don't start competing in global iron ore markets again, eh?
It will be neat if the iron ore price was able to remain at several standard deviations above its long-term average for a few more decades.

[PS. As an asides "free to do as you please" and "quarantine the minute you return" sounds like a bit of a contradiction in terms to me.]
