But what we see here in the politics forum is people pushing the conspiracy theories as if life depends on it, rather sad really

There is a positive correlation between the frequency and depth of fake news/conspiracy theories and the panic and desperation that arises as reality replaces false hope and bravado.

We are seeing it now among Trump boosters.
