SYDNEY, June 7 AAP - IBA Health Ltd today announced the first
order from its new channel partner in the United Arab Emirates,
Healthcare Solutions Middle East.
The five-year contract is valued in excess of $1.7 million,
$450,000 of which will be recognised this financial year.
The contract will deliver IBA's web-based medication management
solution, a key component of its IBA clinical suite, to the
Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) in Dubai.
The medication management system is expected to deliver a
collaborative and interdisciplinary point of care solution to help
health professionals to manage the delivery of medications across
the DOHMS hospitals and primary health centres.
IBA said by integrating and streamlining the medication process,
health professionals could spend less time on unnecessary
transcription and error prone medication paperwork.
The company said health professionals would be provided with
point of care tools, to electronically prescribe medications.
Medical staff can also simultaneously can be advised of
potential drug allergies, interactions, and contraindications to
patient conditions and dosage checks designed to pick-up errors in
dosage.
The solution and can also alert doctors of a relevant blood test
is outside the range recommended for a particular drug dosage, IBA
said.
DOHMS in Dubai will implement the Integrated HealthCare
Information Solution, which includes the medication management
suite, across four major hospitals and 20 Primary Health Centres
encompassing nearly 2000 beds.
IBA Health managing director Len Humphreys said the contract
brought the company's clinical solutions to the Middle East with an
experienced and well recognised channel partner.
"It is now well accepted that these tools which include
electronic prescribing, pharmacy department automation and
medication administration can reduce the incidence and cost of
adverse events associated with the prescribing and administration
of medications by over 50 per cent," Dr Humphreys said.
IBA Health is an Australian-based global supplier of healthcare
information systems and e-health solutions.
Shares in IBA were up 1.5 cents to 25.5 cents at 1232 AEST.
