The ACCC application indicates that AQZ wishes to work very closely with VA to serve those routes that can’t support a B737. Given the current state of the domestic aviation market and the short two year timeframe of the approval sort, I assume getting approval won’t be an insurmountable challenge. Current competition between AQZ and VA pretty much limited to Brisbane - Proserpine, and then Qantas/Jetstar also fly as well.
Assuming approval is forthcoming, the E190’s will be busy. Will be interesting to see how the risk sharing arrangements are negotiated. Will AQZ be prepared to move away from their low risk approach to chase the financial upside?
