4DS - Anything but Charting, page-8557

I've been holding 4DS in the bottom drawer for a couple of years now (notwithstanding a bit of topping up last year). It definitely feels like a deal with WD is getting closer.

A couple of interesting things I picked up from the Letter to Shareholders; namely Resolutions 5 and 6 viz. Messrs. Digby and Dorrian electing to take their outstanding director's fees ($20k and $30k respectively) in shares rather than cash. Bear in mind that the share issue is based on the market price as at 30/06/2020 (0.046).

H Digby: $20,000 @ 0.046 = 434,783
J Dorrian: $30,000 @ 0.046 = 652,173

Whilst not huge sums of money in the scheme of things, if I had the chance to lock up $20-$30k with a very low risk of losing capital and potential upside of around 1,300% in 12 months (assuming a sale price of 0.60 per share), I'd be on it like a fat kid on a donut.

The stuff referring to the renewal of takeover provisions in the Constitution (Resolution 4) is worth mentioning, if only because it seems to reaffirm the readiness of 4DS for sale in the short-medium term.

Having said all of the above, the main reason I've temporarily stopped lurking is because I can't see any mention of WD's purchase of Kazan Networks in September 2019. Why is this important? Well, Kazan Networks is (well, was) a small startup working on target bridge adaptors that enable NVMe JBOFs (Just a Bunch of Flash drives) to connect directly to NVMe-oF networks.

From my limited understanding, JBOF is used as flash storage in data centres. Whilst WD's current JBOF uses NVMe technology, it'd be fair to assume that WD was thinking about potential future applications for Kazan's JBOF bridging technology when they bought the company. I wouldn't be surprised if WD started selling ReRAM-based JBOFs in the next 3-5 years, just sayin'...
