My View:
This offer will not proceed to a TO.
It will need FIRB approval, which it wont get.
It needs APRA approval, which it wont get.
It will need Court approval, which without the two above it will not get.
Also there a few very angry fund managers that will say NO WAY
More likely Ares has taken a position,
looking to trade the bounce.
