Don't think what ANZ said in their trading update means much...if a golden opportunity arises, rest assured ANZ will be on the phone to institutions raising capital in a heartbeat...they won't be wasting time turning to shareholders for the money. Expansion into Asia has long been on the agenda for ANZ, and as long as institutions are not offered too steep a discount, I have no problem with it.
