The announcement by Japan this week that they are targeting 0% emissions by 2050 is very interesting. If they are decommissioning coal, they will have to rely on nuclear for decades to come, and that goes for all major economies that want to keep the lights on. Keep using coal or nuclear. Carbon capture is a pipe dream. Renewables are the future, but for many decades base load can only be from coal, gas and nuclear. And I'm a lefty greeny! And I don't agree that nuclear is anti-green.
