With the US election this week it's a coin flip... Personally I'm not doing any investing this side of the election as I view it as gambling.
If the market goes up after the election and I miss the first 5-10% then that's ok, (especially as I invest over the longer term). However if it all goes to hell, markets drop 10%+ due to the next American Civil War, (lol!), then I would feel pretty dark about buying now. I think that's prudent risk management.
