Why ridicule people for their enthusiasm and excitement. This is shaping up to be a very robust project (IMO).
If the intersection announced today was an isolated hit, say if it was the first hit of copper and gold at Thursday’s Gossan, then perhaps an argument could be made for “grade smearing”.
But considered in the context of so many drill intersections within the project area returning strong copper and gold hits within 200m from surface, it is a very valid, positive result (IMO) for two reasons:
1. This material - all of what was intersected - would be mined in a theoretical Cayley Lode open pit. They would pick up the 0.8g/t Au material as well as the super high grade. So it all adds to the economics of the theoretical open pit operation.
2. The extremely high grade 2m hit of gold suggests the possibility of a very gold rich source (ie. the porphyry intrusion or core). Of course, subject to the porphyry still being there, etc.
Although it may not (presently) be an appropriate analogy, isn’t it at Cadia-Ridgeway where it is said that the copper content covers the mining costs and the gold is all profit?
