Good to see there are some posters with common sense - ban buy backs - what a load of rubbish.
If it was a sigh of bad economical times ahead why would a company reduce cash reserves by conducting a buy back - would it not make more sense that they would sit on the cash to see them through the bad times and or make acquisitions at a cheaper price during these times.
How is it manipulating the market when the buy back activitey is published daily. To shaort a stock during a buy back is something you have to be very careful with - if you feel the stock is over priced wait till the BB is near its completion and short the stock then.
