DJ Santos CEO/Acquisitions -2: Looking At All Opportunities


MELBOURNE (Dow Jones)--Australian oil and gas company Santos Ltd. (STOSY)
Chief Executive John Ellice-Flint said Wednesday the company is "continually
looking at acquisitions."
In particular, Santos is looking at opportunities in both Australia and the
U.S., he told reporters.
Asked whether Papua New Guinea-based Oil Search Ltd. (A.OSH) is an attractive
takeover target, Ellice-Flint said only, "We are looking at all opportunities."
Earlier Wednesday, Santos reported first half 2002 net profit of A$162.6
million, down 35% from a year ago. The result was toward the low end of market
expectations, which ranged between A$161 million and A$195 million.
