I agree with you on a lot of your points, in particular on your last sentence (of your first comment). Perhaps another good regular read is Livewire. Real good articles on a regular basis.
What is also useful is to get a minimum education on valuation. I feel that a good discipline on valuation helps quite a lot. Anyway, valuation keeps changing as it depends on assumptions which are rarely fixed.
