ROWLANDS BUYS AML3D ROBOTIC ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING MODULE
Sheet metal fabricator Rowlands Metalworks has become the second company to purchase an AML3D 3D Arcemy Robotic Welding Cell.The purchase, which gives important third party validation to AML3D’s 3D Wire Additive Manufacturing technologies, will boost Rowlands’ move into higher value defence and agricultural technology products.AML3D delivered the first Arcemy 3D printer to aerospace & defence prime, ST Engineering in April, and has iunstalled the system at its Adelaide manufacturing hub.Rowlands business development manager, Michael Slattery said: “This technology will advance our ability to provide competitive sheet metal products plus introduce 3D Wire Additive Manufacture into our advanced fabrication capability.“Many of our customers will see their products efficiency increased, lead times reduced and consistent quality welding procedures performed.”The Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) provided grant support for the purchase of the $400,000 system.The initial application for the new system by Rowlands will be to additively join sheet metal structures and manufacture bespoke components for its customers.AML3D said in a statement: “The Arcemy module has the potential to transform (Rowlands) service offering, positioning them at the forefront of industry 4.0 innovation.“The production efficiencies of an Arcemy module will provide (Rowlands) with a clear advantage in a highly competitive industry.”
