It doesn't really work like that for vaccine trials, as far as I know. In vaccine trials you vaccinate a lot of people, look at how many "should" have got the virus and didn't, and work out your treatment effect from that. I haven't had time today to read the detailed stats they released, but it seems like they found only 94 covid cases in their entire cohort, so that's far more significant results than only checking 94 people.

I would like to see the proper data before commenting any more on what it all means, but assuming it is effective they need to prove safety and manufacturing quality, just like everyone does before they'll get an EUA. We will probably juuuuust enrol our trial fully before this starts rolling out if everything goes well for them from here.
