As an early investor in HMD and big believer that they are on the the path to much bigger things in the Telehealth space, I thought I would see if I could reach out and sample the goods while the wife is pregnant.
A few phone calls, emails and about 4 weeks later the HeraBEAT arrived. Packaging is sleek and apple-esqe, with the device design also very nice, though could probably be improved even further with later models.
We downloaded the app and with an 'if we can't hear the baby we won't freak out' attitude, we gave it a shot. Within 30 seconds of trying to locate the heart beat we had it on pumping away on the iPhone screen like a champion!
We've had regular visits to the obstetrician and it's always special to see the baby on the screen, but the wife in particular was so excited to be able to do it on the couch at home.
Its now turned into a weekly (or more) event and continues to be special. All the previous sessions are automatically stored so there is a record through the pregnancy journey and a comparison to earlier sessions.
We told the obstetrician about HeraBEAT and he's a bit wary (apparently other doeplers have been unreliable and have led to him getting late night calls from pregnant mums) but he's impressed by what we have reported. We'll take it in when we head in next.
So all in all I'm pretty impressed with the device and it's definitely added a special extra part of the pregnancy journey.
