I was told as a kid that God gave us Free Will. If that is the case, I won't question it. There must be a reason for free will (or freedom) from the Source.
We humans allways need a guide to be guided as we pass thru different stages in life and if we are own guides so as they say only God help us. In past we have had elders correcting young.Now young have no leaders as they are on their own with no borders in front of them .Freedom does not give any guidance for lost man.
There days elders are not always the best role models for the young. It might be a case at times of "do as I say, not as I do". Just look at some of the scandals we see coming from politicians.
It can be trick about what constitutes "good values" and these vary depending on the times one lives in, one's culture and religion you live in.
So, ultimately it might be best to make up your own mind and go inside yourself to find out what is "right" for you.
