Young men (and now sometimes women) are sent to fight wars which may involve dropping bombs, shooting guns, harming civillians, destroying property and contaminating lands and whatever else.
These youngsters are doing these things because they were told by their elders that they must as they have been given orders. Some choose to go into the army as a career choice some may have entered due to conscription.
Is killing and destruction "right" behaviour in the circumstances you find yourself in? Some will ask the question and some will not.
Maybe in some circumstances you will decide it is and maybe in other circomstance it isn't. Maybe your country is at war because you want someone elses resources rather than fighting an aggressor.
Soldiers have been told to kill by superiors, by poliicians (these will no doubt, generally be, elders). Does this make a particular war "right"?
The conscientious objector may be in the right but they may be locked up for this stance.
So, whatever action you take I suggest it is best to do it because you think it is right and not because someone else does. Maybe you are being manipulated to do someone else's bidding.
In the shorter and longer term you are accountable for your actions, imo.
Of course, you can seek advice and guidance. It is your life and only you can live it. Don't give your power away. If you do, you are only a puppet and not a "child" of God or creation or whatever you wish to call it.
