If you're able to look back at success and put your own ego aside to recognise the role that luck played in success, I'd say you're already in the top 10% of retail investors.
Many people get lucky, but think it's all skill, only to give up much of their gains later on when the tide comes out. I think this bull market is making a lot of investors look much better than they really are.
It's when the tide turns that you see who really knows how to manage risk and uncertainty.
