Maybe this is the reason for the renewed interest. The USPTO yesterday (10 March 09) issued the patent for the 1ml Retractable Safety Syringe. Patent # 7500967.
The application was originally filed in 2003, so now it's official, with 20 years to run. Guess it will give a lot of comfort to both SA and Unilife in the current IA negotiations. Also guess we can expect an announcement on this at least, soon.....difficult to underestimate the importance of this patent issue in the greater scheme of things.....
