This is down to Strike management not ensuring the contractor has spares on site or at the very least in country. The motor failures and side tracks were excusable, but this one is very poor. I hope there is a better excuse, but not having spare slips & seal assemblies for what is a common size is pretty hard, but the fact they can't get any in country off anyone else suggests it was some sort of special order. Whether Strike knew about this upfront or not is up for debate, but they should have. It's pretty common that there will be an independent wellhead contractor out there, so I'd imagine there have been some pretty difficult conversations between Strike and them...
