Talga Talga Mine was first opened back in 1896, but was only operating until 1897 from what I can find.

When Novo Resources had it, the stated.."Gold at Talga Talga is believed to have been deposited very early, likely before 3.2 billion years, making this one of the oldest gold systems on Earth.

There is a report in an old newspaper dated July 24th 1896....... GOLD FIND AT TALGA TALGA. Another large nugget has been picked up at Talga Talga, from which place numbers of finds of this description have been lately reported. The Postmaster has reported to the PostMaster General that a 30cm slug has been found by a man named MacDermott....."

There was a Telegraph / Post office open at the mine from 27-04-1896, and this was closed 11-11-1897.
( As a collector of old Western Australian postmarks, I would love to find a Talga postmark, however they are very rare. I can trace 3 copies known which gives an idea of how hard it is to find. These are dated 23 sept 1896 and March 1897, with 3rd unknown date.)
