As a bit of perspective. Commonwealth bank was charging me 4 dollars a month to have an account, with some conditions to waive the fee.
The direction that zip are seemingly taking, in Australia at least, is a very consumer driven approach and so they're looking at innovative ways to justify their fees, which in reality is quite low given what they're offering.
TBH you can't win against downrampers, revenue needs to come from somewhere. Charge the merchant too much, they'll say fees are too high and it won't be profitable. Charge the consumer, and that's not allowed either. I think we should have a charity instead.
