Thanks. Australia is going to need to be a lot more strategic and somehow play it like Japan. Japan and China are historical enemies with many disputes and are large trading partners. Very difficult though when clearly we have been and currently are a pawn piece for the US and China spats. Best way is to not be the weakest link, expand and diversify to SE asia, India, UK and more. And get the damaged alliances working to make strong trade blocks with strong free trade advantages that squeeze China to play by the rules. This America and European first populus policies are terrible for Australia, the worlds exposure to Ever growing Chinese influence in the region and leaves us as sitting ducks. China is a world power that horse has bolted. If we think we can collapse in and be competitive against the world on all manufacturing levels, we are kidding ourselves. But I'm not saying we shouldn't spend more on certain strategic manufacturing and encourage investment in more downstream process with our natural advantages of mining minerals, energy (sun, wind, hydrogen, gas, nuclear dreaming) high end biotech, bespoke techs and being a food bowl to feed growing Asia.
