My take on the fee situation is that it is incentivising early full payment from consumers. Ie. within 60 days for no account fee. Great deal for consumers using zip, great deal for zip as capital can be rotated, and great deal for merchants.
This is a different deal than what APT offers, where consumers have no control over scheduling payments ie. you have to pay every 2 weeks. For me Z1P is actually ideal as it allows me to extend my interest free period for purchases- 30-60 days with z1p (depending on purchase date), then another 55 days with the credit card i use to pay off z1p account.
Z1P is a great product for consumers, unless we are talking about people who do not understand the product or have the skills to manage their money- in which case i would say that is not the right customer segment for Z1P, or any financial institution.
