Coronaviruses cause about 20% of colds (what we refer to as the common cold). Catching coronavirus colds creates antibodies which protect against other coronaviruses – including Covid-19. Children, who regularly share colds, are much more likely to have these cross-reactive antibodies than adults. This explains why children are virtually immune from serious symptoms of Covid-19. The current lockdown of SA is based on a supposed new strain of coronavirus that has largely no or minimal symptoms. This is because it’s the common cold and most people have antibodies or T-cell immunity to such coronaviruses. They have locked down an entire state for the common cold!
