You are confusing social values and supports with communism which is what happened in USSR, and China with collectivisation and centralised distribution of food and goods. This was a terrible failure and was forced by dictatorial powers. North Korea is the only remaining "Communist" State. Cuba was the only successful communist state and didn't require such dictatorial force.
You need to differentiate between socialism and communism @Hingdog. .... I suggest you read a bit about socialism and learn that it has nothing to do with communism.
