I'm drawn to the 'offence' thesis because of the timing. That is, SiYi's withdrawal just after the letters of offer re partership went out to multiple parties and after the reduced 5,000 testing program was agreed to.
Something happened SUDDENLY. If a gambit on SiYi's part, I would have thought they would have launched it straight after the quality control issue - not after a month of identifying and fixing the problem and submitting a revised order for 5,000 units.
