One would not, ordinarily, assay for Pt and Pd in basalts. The mineralisation is related to shearing, and is not orthomagmatic (ie; formed during magmatism), so it is highly unlikely to be platiniferous. Fire assay is $25, and would provide an opportunity for assaying Pt+Pd. The 4-acid digest would be ~$27-31 per sample. Been a while since I've got a quote from ALS.
