I return to my other point, apart from the fact that My family and community will be living with the NOX pollution from the quarry, is that if CXO were positioning themselves as a green tech energy company... that just happens to also be producing high grade spodumene concentrate... they would be unstoppable. Your shares would be 3-5x current value.I would be all in for sure.
Sadly though BC, SB and friends can only present their proposal as yet another diesel powered, crappy quarrying operation.
In software engineering and other tech industries there is a concept know as “eating your own dog food”; that is leveraging your technical prowess/advantage by using that advantage to further your business aspirations.
So what is CXO’s dog food? Lithium technology, but at the other end of the supply chain.
If CXO released a new development plan that included a half dozen Tesla Megapacks (20 MW), a grid connection, a few MW of 5B solar farm, and you know, a solid commitment to become the world’s “greenest” lithium mine, your shares would go three baggers in a matter of days IMHO. It would become international energy tech news of the highest order.
Again sadly, CXO has nothing visionary about their plans apart from diesel powered quarrying, hence my lithium investments are in a different section of the global lithium supply chains. Those investments are doing very well too I must say in recent times. The smart money is in technology. Investing in fossil fuel based production is so last century.
There are reasons why CXO is languishing so badly despite some good fundamentals. My take is the company can’t see the wood for the trees. The old order of mining in Australia is dying. Those companies that don’t adapt to the realities of a post carbon economy will also die much like GM and Ford will surely die.</end_rant>
As always, I am ready to pile in big time, but not under the current proposed MMP, not under the current technology platforms proposed for execution with that MMP, and most certainly not under the current management’s vision.
