My understanding is that PRU would need to make profits of at least $56.775 million before they responsibly could pay a dividend. They could try to do it before the that but it may be considered dicey.
I don't think it would help them to pay the capex off a new gold mine as it is just accumulated exploration expenditure, acquisition costs and currency adjustments not written off.
