"The white horseman is not Jesus.
In a sense it could be the United Nations."
MrG seems to have retreated even more than usual into "Preach the JW version but no discussion permitted."
Wotsup also is not convinced that the rider of the white horse in Revs 6 and 19 is Jesus because of his wotsupian concern about the finer details of the Word of God and the word of God and bows versus swords .. or some such.
My impression is that the RC regards Revelations as something no ordinary sane person should ever try to understand literally.
That was not and still is not it's purpose.
Hence the preoccupation by "end of days evangelists" is at best misguided but in any case pointless.
Perhaps @ppm56 could also give his more learned view.
In any case, you are interested and so as a matter of interest ....
What is your reason why as the JW (and others ?) suggest, Revs 6 is not just the first basic "preview" of this rider as one of the quartet and Revs 19 fills in the unmistakable details indicating it can be none other than Jesus ?
In practice, the UN has never even come close to conquering it's astronomical paper, coffee and conference/meetings bill, or conquered a single Nation, let alone all Nations.
That idea can be dismissed safely.
Revs does not say there was a bow with no arrows. All it says is ... with a bow.
Anyone familiar with the use of a bow as a weapon ... including the intended Revs audience, would know that the whole point of a bow is to propel arrows. It's a given. Just as it's normal to refer to a gun, not a gun and bullets.
So, that can also be dismissed as irrelevant.
However, you got it right with "Looks more and more like the ineffectual United Nations."
