"Kalahari Minerals plc, the AIM listed mining exploration group with a portfolio of uranium, copper and base metal interests in Namibia, announces the appointment of Mr. Neil MacLachlan as Non-executive Director of the Company with immediate effect. Mr. MacLachlan, aged 66, also holds a Non-executive Director position at Extract Resources Limited ('Extract'), in which the Company's subsidiary, Kalahari Uranium Limited, holds a 39.74% interest. His appointment is designed to further strengthen the relationship between Kalahari and Extract, as the two companies work together to ensure shareholders receive maximum value from Extract's world class Husab uranium project in Namibia...
...Kalahari Chairman Mark Hohnen said, 'I am delighted to welcome Neil to the Board of Kalahari. He brings with him a vast breadth of experience in the mining arena and also a clear understanding of our key investment in Extract through his directorship role on its Board. I believe that the restructuring that the Extract Board recently underwent, in addition to the new appointments that we have made to our own Board, have strengthened both our important relationship, but also our ability, under the supervision of Peter McIntyre, to bring to fruition the huge value of Extract's Namibian uranium assets.'"
In passing, I observe that MacLachlan is also chairman of Cambridge Mineral Resources (CMR), who's shares were suspended from London's AIM market on 30th January, following resignation of their NOMAD on that date. As no new NOMAD has been appointed, my underatanding is that CMR's listing has been withdrawn.
Their last statement on 27th February ( http://fool.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/20090227070037M3164.html ) read as follows:
"Cambridge Mineral Resources plc, the AIM listed mining exploration and production company primarily targeting precious metals in South America, announces that it remains in financing negotiations with various parties. A further announcement regarding the Company's financial position will be issued in due course."
