In the video Jordan discovered the research paper where pictures for the Battery Day anode slides came from. Why does Tesla need to copy these images and use material from a research paper? IMHO its because its this is still work-in-progress. I don't think Tesla really has any intention of internally developing their own silicon anodes, not at commercial scale anyway. I think Tesla is making these claims to negotiate better pricing for themselves, similarly to what they said for lithium... that it could be extracted from clay using table salt!

MT said on in the CSIRO webinar that in Talnode-Si they've recently cracked the code on developing high volume, low cost product and "that's frightening in how good they are" so i definitely think Tesla will be using Talnode-Si going forward. Their decision to include material needed for in the Niska scoping study and further look at developing additional silicon only refineries is another tell tail sign. Just thought i'd remind what was mentioned in the ann "Talga Fast-Tracks Mass-Producible Silicon Anode Product"

• Demand from European and US automotive and battery manufacturers for Talga’s silicon
anode product Talnode®-Si drives 10x boost in commercial sample production capacity

• Customer feedback supports Talga’s commercial approach in using lower cost
metallurgical-grade silicon and mass production equipment

• Production of graphene-graphite precursors required to make Talnode®-Si added to the Niska process flowsheet and scoping study, pushing release to November

• Positive market feedback and technical development lead Talga to fast-track preliminary
feasibility studies for stand-alone European silicon anode refinery (we now know this is the UK funded plant)

This is only my view.....DYOR.

The key is it is looking at ways to integrate more silicon and not developing its own.
