Real, I really have to laugh.

The reference to IBM goes back over half a century. But lost its relevance decades ago when "Microsoft" was substituted for "IBM" in the lexicon. Almost annually IBM sells of another piece of its "legacy", that is, its hardware division. Today their boffins generate many patents (still) but increasingly those pieces of IP remain in pure research, with fewer and fewer making their way into products or being otherwise applied. Today an IBM hardware offering is NOT a good bet and not a job protection strategy, either.

Not here to debate what has or has not been said by Intel execs. But as best I can see no-one is disputing the Edge relevance and supremacy of Akida. Meanwhile Loihi, given its current and projected appetite for resources, seems destined to play in spaces distant from our areas of interest. And maybe that realisation could be leading to some interesting conversations!

Of course, Intel has its own challenges. While Moore's Law acknowledges an Intel founder, recent events suggest Intel is increasingly hamstrung as that law loses its momentum and Intel's abilities are diverging from the semi mainstream.

At the same time and by any measure Brainchip is showing all the signs of emerging from its flavour-of-the-month chrysalis and blossoming into something truly desirable...and valuable.

So Intel still may be a threat, but not, I suggest, in the way you envisage. Meanwhile, as many here appreciate, we are witnessing the odds on our one-time longshot shortening with every stride.
