It doesn't require much calculation. It was WBC's entire holding of just under 55.2 million shares. If the people that bought from UBS are selling, then it isn't a shorting problem - they are longs selling, but yes a popular hedge fund strategy is to buy block trades at a discount and then attempt to sell the stock slowly to capture short term profits. The block was done on 22 October and just under 362 million shares have traded since then.
