I never take part in these SPP's.
Tying your money up into the uncertainty particularly facing a scale back is not ideal in my view. That and then having to wait for any refund is why I never participate.
Ignoring any FOMO and buying on market, which will always present opportunities gets rid of that problem.
You know what you get & all for the price of brokerage.
