I really understand where you are coming from Nick...I also believe that there should be a separation of secular education and religion...
HOWEVER - as pointed out by another forum member - for some people their religion is as much a part of who they are, just as someone’s sexuality is part of who they are. Why have child minding services in some universities or poitical affiliations groups?
For this reason, in order to attract a 'valuable' and very much 'self funding' student client base from various cultures (also an integral part of our education system and source of funding that is used to subsidize and benefit local students), there remains an innate need to provide the resources for students to have somewhere to practice their faith as part of their on-going non-student life.
