I think you a being a bit harsh and one sided. Yes, redstone has chewed up a significant ammount of capital without producing the "golden ticket" however i belive it is because the company has been using a shotgun approach and trying to spread the risk through multiple ventures.
Please look at the other side of the coin. Why would private equity invest $500,000 with a further potential of $2.5m , if they didnt have a strong feeling management are back on track?
A $500,000 investment in times like these is a fair chunk of capital, considering quality assets are being offloaded for a song.
