I think you'll find that if they continue to keep finding gold near surface across their tenements, it will attract corporate activity as the bigger miners like EVN have the pockets to follow the near surface sniffs all the way down to the possible source(s).
My gutfeel is that to produce so many near surface deposits and with the decent geological controls often found in this area of the world, there is probably a pretty big source deposit just waiting there to be found. Some of the deposits in this area also go quite deep.... hence why a major may step in and chase the elephant rather than the rabbit traps.
