Regardless of what I think of ML, the market has taken a sword to WES today on delayed reaction to ML's note. As result I am now a holder by virtue of falling knives ;)
The large spike in volume at the end was a bit of a worry. Until about 3:45 pm, total volume was about 2.3 million so I was thinking blah! Price going lower on low volume. Compare this to yesterday when it went up on a volume of 5.8 million. After close about 4:40 volume hit 6.8 million, after close so that got my heart racing. Decreasing price on increasing volume is a worry.
Closer inspection shows the following last three trades which might explain the spike:
04:32:58 PM 18.700 2,900,000
04:17:21 PM 18.700 450,857
04:15:16 PM 18.700 450,857
If these are options exercised, this would explain where the 3.8 million of 6.8 million came from. Can somebody guess what these three trades were?
