please also consider the size of these batteries arrays in comparison the the scale of a PH setup.. and how long they can run for.

The largest current setup is a 15/60Mw unit in Japan (4 hours), the longest continuous stated output is Germany's 2/20Mw (10 hours)... At least with Vandium redox it is similar to PH in that the solution and plating tank can be increased in size to increase capacity... and effective lives are much better than li-ion. I have stated previously that Moss Landing in the USA will eventually have a li-ion setup of 1500/6000mw... but it is only for 4 hours peak output

PH is much larger than this... and also allows for a longer period of maximum discharge... GNX's setup will be 250/2000Mw (8 hours)... Snowy Hydro - when 2.0 is finished will be able to operate at peak output of 6100Mw for 7 days

For the record - I am 100% supportive of batteries being in the mix of our future energy grid... but each technology has its strengths - PH needs to be in the mix for its ability to deliver for longer periods at peak output and long effective life.

Vanadium fits in the middle between Li-Ion & PH IMO
