Have a look at post on zinc commodities thread under "zinc mine production cuts", kitcometals.com, the TZN qtr reports regarding the zinc market and major producer presentation such as tech. Most of world zinc production is under water at recent prices, significant zinc production has been cut and there are almost no new zinc mines being financed. Zinc is heavily cyclic and always producers some of the best returns for those who buy when nobody else is interested at the bottom of these cycles (see KZL in 2000-1) which ultimately repeat.

Zinc recently bounced multiple times off US$48c/lb which is likely the new low in the current downtrend. TZN are clearly aiming for the next rise in the zinc price in ~2011.
