I came across this snippet a short time ago ... might explain a thing ot two:
"Massive open in the money call strikes, closing off tomorrow, were seen as a major reason for the strong performance of AMP, BHP, CBA, BIL,NCM and RIO and others today said a senior dealer as people were caught short."
