For the gold price to get to U$3,000, the U$ would have to end up in the drain somewhere. If that would happen, the AU$ imo would be sitting well North of a 1$ exchange rate. More likely would be that in that scenario the IMF would take over with some digital weighted basket currency. I'm not sure they will ever let gold fly to say $6,000.
