    A century ago there was no market for Nickel, it emerged. Scandium combined with Aluminium in a 3D printed alloy car frame will substantially reduce the weight, whilst improving structural integrity & reducing the cost. Only thing they have to work out is
    A. How to reduce the energy use of 3D printing
    B. Start a Scandium market

    but lighter car weight combined with improved battery performance should make electric cars affordable.... eventually

    The other issue he doesn't mention is substitution
