12 months isn't a meaningful amount of time to judge an investment, unless you are trading pips over the short term. The reality as an investor is that, despite how complacent the price action has been since the March crash, shares do not go up in a straight line interrupted. Sometimes they may stagnate for years before making up all that ground (and more!) in a few months e.g. TSLA in the US.
