I think it is simple economics!
For example if you sell 100 units of a product @ $10 profit you make $1000 profit, however if you sell 1000 units @ $2 profit you make $2000 profit, 100% increase in profit and this example excludes economies of scale. You cant sell more product unless you have the space to do it!!
